Imagine…Crystal-Clear, Healthy Drinking Water From Every Tap In Your Home

“You may have noticed that hardly anyone drinks tap water anymore. They’re drinking bottled water, using a refrigerator filter, or a product like a Brita water filter pitcher.

Yet they may be washing their organic produce with tap water, giving tap water to their pets, and bathing in unfiltered water…straight from the water treatment plant and full of chlorine and chloramine (i.e., chlorine and ammonia). Yuck!”

Howard Esbin, CEO of Environmental Water Systems

Environmental Water Systems is a Health and Wellness Company dedicated to providing high-quality water filtration systems for homes and businesses. Their products are designed to remove impurities and contaminants from your water, ensuring that you and your family have access to clean, safe, and healthy, filtered drinking water.

Howard Esbin, the company’s CEO, started the business out of necessity, and to protect the health of his daughter. “I created EWS in 1987 after the birth of my daughter,” says Howard. “Her pediatrician told us to keep the bathroom door open and use any vents available so she would not breathe the chlorine that would aerate from the shower, as it would be bad for her lung development.”

After further research, Howard found that the issues with the tap water weren’t just chlorine and bad taste. He discovered that there was a host of additional substances forming a chemical cocktail in their tap water. Howard explains, “Chlorine, its byproducts, and other chemicals present in our water are carcinogenic or endocrine-disrupting, contributing to cancer, thyroid issues, weight gain, diabetes, and birth defects.”

Howard knew that this was his calling, so he left his successful career in finance and founded Environmental Water Systems. “I wanted to make a difference,” says Howard. “I am passionate about providing the highest quality, long-lasting water filtration so we can all enjoy clean water.”

Why Water Filtration Matters

According to an ASPE (American Society of Plumbing Engineers) survey, Americans are more concerned than ever about drinking water that may contain lead, chlorine, chloramines, bacteria, pesticides, herbicides, and other contaminants. However, drinking water shouldn’t be their only concern.

Benefits of Water Filtration

Health Benefits

With the heightened focus on personal wellness, homeowners are transforming their ordinary bathrooms into their own personal home spa, with products like therapy tubs, steam rooms, cold plunges, and saunas. However, there’s nothing luxurious or health enhancing about these home-spa experiences without filtered water. In fact, direct exposure to the harmful chemicals present in tap water can be downright harmful to your health.

“Unfiltered water in the U.S. contains chlorine and/or chloramine and can also contain heavy metals, bacteria, lead, PFAS, and other contaminants,” explains Howard. “When all these contaminants are aerosolized in steam, they can become a breathing hazard, especially to children, elderly people, and those with lung issues like asthma and COPD.”

Although tap water is considered by many to be safe, water filtration is a simple way to instantly improve the health and wellness of a home. Water filtration eliminates chlorine/chloramine, pharmaceutical residues, VOCs, other chemicals, and contaminants.

Hair and Skin Benefits

Filtered water can positively transform your hair and skin. Chlorine is one of the worst offenders to our skin and hair because it strips the skin and hair of their natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. By removing chlorine from the water as it enters the home, the skin can maintain its natural moisture balance and your hair will be softer and shinier.

“For individuals with sensitive skin or conditions like acne, dermatitis, eczema, or psoriasis, filtered water can minimize exposure to irritants that may exacerbate these conditions, leading to clearer, more comfortable skin,” Howard remarks.

Removing contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, and byproducts of industrial processes can prevent these contaminants from coming into contact with your skin and hair, which might otherwise lead to irritation and sensitivity.

Howard shared an impactful success story where an EWS water filtration system helped a group of people in the San Francisco Bay who suddenly began having awful skin issues. “We saw the pictures they sent us – extensive, painful rashes all over their bodies. Many of them had gone through extensive medical testing and doctor visits and topical medications to no avail,” says Howard. The culprit turned out to be the chloramine (chlorine and ammonia combination), which was being used to disinfect the water supply in the area. Showering in that water greatly exacerbated their skin issues. “Our whole home systems remove chloramine, so it was an easy fix for all of these people,” explains Howard. “To this day, they are all free of the skin issues they were having.”

Convenience

Imagine having instant access to clean, perfectly filtered water without the hassle of having to leave your home or fill up heavy bottles. Point-of-use, or whole home filtration eliminates continually refilling pitcher filters as well. Filtration also makes it easy to fill pots with healthy, filtered water for cooking.

Environmental Impact

Whole home water filtration has a positive impact on the environment, specifically as it relates to plastic bottle usage.

According to ASPE, the average American uses 167 disposable bottles per year, 80% of which end up in a landfill and take 450 years to decompose. “By providing clean, filtered water from every tap, these systems reduce the need for bottled water and lead to a substantial decrease in the consumption of single-use plastic bottles, which are a major contributor to plastic waste,” explains Howard. In addition to positively impacting the environment, eliminating bottled water can save a lot of money over time as well.

Extend the Life of Your Appliances

Chlorine and chloramine can destroy gaskets, O-rings, seals, valves, and other components in appliances that use water. None of this is a concern with whole-home filtered water, therefore it can extend the life of your appliances.

Taste

Filtered water can taste much fresher and purer than tap water. Water filtration removes the chlorine and bacteria that can make tap water taste flat, tasteless, metallic, or even chemical.

“Whole home filtration is connected at the main service line, filtering all the water that’s used in the home. Point-of-use filtration helps people to experience healthy, great-tasting water from a single water source, most commonly the kitchen sink,” explains Howard.

The max flow unit features a high flow rate and doesn’t require a separate dispenser, making it ideal for quick do it yourself installation. It’s EWS’s most versatile and bestselling sink filtration system. It removes chlorine, chloramine, lead, sediment, and more, and leaves healthy minerals intact. This system is ideal for those who want advanced filtration with a smaller footprint.

Whole Home Water Filtration appliances from EWS are their flagship product and have been their best seller since 1987.

Whole Home Water Filtration systems from EWS are made in America and built to last decades. They are also incredibly low maintenance, and easy to install. “We still have clients with original systems from the early 1990s,” says Howard. “Our whole home systems use 100% pure granular activated carbon media and the systems automatically self-clean, so they are designed to need a media replacement only once up to every 10 years. This is one of the lowest maintenance appliances in a home.”

As you can see, there are numerous benefits to investing in whole home water filtration. Whether you’re looking to filter all the water throughout the home, or through one commonly used faucet, Environmental Water Systems has the perfect unit for you. Going beyond the kitchen sink helps to extend the life of appliances, and removes chlorine that can dry hair and skin, and more. If you’re a wellness enthusiast who regularly enjoys long baths or steam saunas, consider whole home water filtration for your next remodel to ensure a truly luxurious, health-enhancing experience.

“With our American-made filtration appliances, you can enjoy the highest quality water available and immerse yourself in a healthy, wellness-focused experience with filtered water for bathing, showering, and steam.” – Howard Esbin
